Overview
We are looking to recruit an experienced lawyer specialising in court and tribunal advocacy, enthusiastic and hardworking, able to work under pressure and tight deadlines to provide a vital service for our clients. This role welcomes applicants from both the private and public sectors and is part of a busy legal department serving the fourth largest city in the country.
Responsibilities
* Manage your own caseload, including complex and interesting areas of civil litigation.
* Provide authoritative advice to council officers and members, ensuring decisions are lawful.
* Represent the council in civil litigation matters, including defence of disrepair claims, recovery of debts, general commercial and other civil litigation.
Qualifications
* Recognised legal qualification (Solicitor, Barrister or FCILEX) with full practising and advocacy rights.
* Technical knowledge in all aspects of legal advice and representation relating to defending disrepair claims, recovery of debts, general commercial and other civil litigation.
* Understanding of legal case‑management systems and process knowledge.
