This multi-academy trust is based in Lancashire, specifically with schools in Chorley and Bolton. Upon joining the trust, you will become an integral part of the IT team, reporting to the Trust IT Manager. The trust has an excellent reputation locally, known for high standards across the school and high-performing pupils. It aims to appoint the right individuals to facilitate this high performance. The IT team is a key part of the central support staff, with various projects planned for the summer and beyond, all focused on enhancing technology provision across the schools and further supporting teaching and learning.
Your new role
As an IT Technician, you will be based across 2 nearby sites, providing IT support to staff and pupils in both secondary and primary settings. Your main responsibilities include providing proactive on-site support, contributing to the wider IT strategy, and supporting IT development across the trust. Daily tasks involve responding to IT requests, resolving issues efficiently, and collaborating with the IT Manager on complex problems, enabling your skill development. You will oversee the helpdesk system, keep end users informed about issues, report recurring problems, and ensure high service levels. Additional duties include asset management, procuring IT consumables, supporting equipment installation, and working with end users on equipment use. You will also support upcoming projects such as upgrades, new installations, testing, disaster recovery, and liaising with external suppliers. This role requires on-site presence 5 days a week and travel between both sites, which are very close to each other.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed, you should have proven IT support experience in an on-site setting, ideally within the education sector such as schools or colleges. You should seek opportunities to develop your skills and be eager to participate in projects involving new technologies and systems. A proactive approach, excellent customer service, and strong communication skills are essential. Experience working with Microsoft 365 (M365) is also required. You must have access to a vehicle to travel between the two sites.
What you'll get in return
You will receive a competitive annual salary of £25,000 to £27,000, with additional pay for project work. Benefits include a local government pension scheme, 28 days holiday plus bank holidays, access to an employee wellbeing platform, and other perks.
