SEMH 1:1 Support Worker

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and dedicated SEMH 1:1 Support Worker to join our team and provide tailored support for a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a learner’s wellbeing, development and overall education experience.
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and wider pastoral team, you will help create a safe, positive and nurturing environment where the pupil can thrive both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 targeted support for a pupil with SEMH needs.
- Implement personalised strategies to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
- Use de-escalation techniques and contribute to maintaining a calm, safe learning environment.
- Support the pupil in building confidence, social skills and resilience.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, external agencies and parents/carers.
- Record observations, progress notes and contribute to EHCP reviews where required.
- Follow safeguarding, behaviour and inclusion policies at all times.
What we are looking for:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs (school or care setting).
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- Ability to build trusting relationships and remain positive under pressure.
- Commitment to promoting inclusion and pupil wellbeing.
- Relevant training (Team Teach, MAPA, positive handling) is desirable but not essential.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
