About the role:
Each Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) offers educational provision to pupils aged 5 – 16 who are permanently excluded or at risk of exclusion from their mainstream school as well as other pupils that the LA has a statutory responsibility for such as pregnant schoolgirls.
The PRU’s core offer is to provide short term placements for pupils up to the end of Key Stage 3 with the aim of successful re-integration back into a mainstream setting. At Key Stage 4 the aim is to achieve accreditation to support pupils onto the next stage of their education, employment or training.
About you:
• At least three years teaching experience.
• Effective implementation of strategies to support students with emotional,
behavioural and social needs.
• Experience of teaching Mathematics/Numeracy at Key Stage 4 to accreditation level e.g. GCSE
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals.
• Ability to work collaboratively with professionals from a range of settings and agencies.
• A commitment to enhancing well-being for all students and those working with them – to enhance their learning and life chances.
What you will do:
As numeracy champion you will be responsible for co-ordinating and developing numeracy across the curriculum. You will also be responsible for delivering theory and practical elements of Mathematics and Numeracy.
