Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Commis Chef to join our culinary team in Stevenage, United Kingdom. As a Commis Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and contributing to the creation of exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
Responsibilities
* Assist in food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and seasoning ingredients
* Follow recipes and chef's instructions to prepare menu items
* Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
* Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring proper use and cleanliness
* Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
* Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food service
* Learn and develop new culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs
* Contribute to menu development and suggest creative ideas for dishes
* Assist in plating and presentation of dishes
* Participate in kitchen cleaning and sanitation procedures
* We work together as a team to lead by example, protecting the planet and supporting local communities
Qualifications
* Culinary school diploma or certificate preferred
* Food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) required
* Basic culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques
* Proficiency in operating standard kitchen equipment
* Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
* Excellent time management and organizational skills
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Willingness to learn and adapt to new culinary techniques
* Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
