We are seeking a Chief Finance Officer/Section 151 Officer for approximately 6 months to manage the provision of a full range of accountancy and treasury management services and advice to a local Authority. This will include, advising and assisting the Chief Executive and other staff on budget and financial planning.
You will also act as the Authority's Section 151 Officer and be qualified to fulfil this role.
Additionally, you will lead the annual review and preparation of the Annual Governance Statement and Local Code of Corporate Governance
Key accountabilities:
* Undertake the submission of statutory and statistical returns
* Undertake budget monitoring - liaise with budget holders on a regular basis
* Complete closedown and notes to the Statement of Accounts and publish the unaudited accounts by the statutory deadline 30th June 2026 for public inspection.
* Provide administrative and financial support to external grant funded projects.
* Assisting in the process of external grant claim, including record keeping and the reconciliation and collation of grant claim submissions.
Key requirements:
1. A fully qualified chartered accountant (CIPFA/ACCA/ACA)
2. Significant senior-level experience in local government finance, including operating as or supporting a Section 151/Chief Finance Officer role.
