Job Introduction
We are offering the opportunity to join our team on one of our general rehabilitation wards at Warminster community hospital, with learning opportunities across our services including stroke rehabilitation, community, and specialist services.
Longleat ward is a 25-bed inpatient ward with a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Patients are admitted from our three acute hospitals for ongoing care. Conditions treated include orthopaedics, neurological, musculoskeletal, frailty, dementia, and end-of-life care.
As a Band 5, you will receive regular in-service training, peer support, competency development, and participate in a preceptorship program. You will also have an annual appraisal and regular supervision with your designated supervisor.
This role offers first-hand experience working in multidisciplinary teams, promoting independence through rehabilitation and enablement interventions, and collaborating with health and social care teams.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide safe, patient-focused, effective, and evidence-based Occupational Therapy services within Wiltshire health and care.
* Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions, providing effective treatment.
* Perform clinical duties autonomously, seeking support when necessary, within your scope of competence.
* Work according to RCOT standards and relevant guidelines and policies.
* Ensure professional and legal accountability, maintaining high standards of care and documentation.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills, and competence in therapeutic interventions.
* Participate in audits, evaluate outcomes, and contribute to improvement plans.
* Integrate with multidisciplinary teams across Wiltshire.
* Promote patient adherence and self-management for optimal outcomes.
* Participate in extended hours and weekend work as required.

The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
* HCPC Registered
* Professional Qualification in Occupational Therapy
* Completion of student placements
* Ongoing CPD/Reflective Practice
* Broad placement experience in cardiopulmonary, MSK, neuro, community, or ward settings
* Experience delivering group-based treatments
* Experience with NHS settings (student level acceptable)
Desirable:
* RCOT membership
* Training in neuro, community, or acute care
* Experience with clinical audits and evaluations
* Community-based work experience
* Ability to communicate with patients requiring translation
* Ability to work independently and seek advice when needed
* Presentation and teaching skills
* Experience with electronic patient records in a paper-light environment
Other requirements:
* Willingness to work across different areas of the Trust
* Full driving license and access to a car for community work
* Ability to travel between sites and attend meetings at various locations
