Job overview

An exciting new post has arisen within the Maternity administration team, as the Outpatient Clinic Clerk.

You will be responsible for managing the appointments and patient queries for the maternity outpatient department, providing effective and efficient administrative support. You will be working closely with the midwives, obstetricians and administrative teams and expected to be well organised. The post holder will be accountable to the Admin Manager.

If you have previous patient appointment bookings and managing front line queries with a flexible “can-do” attitude to work, exceptional customer service skills and can see yourself as part of a busy multidisciplinary team, then we would like to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

1. Effective delivery of clerical and reception duties for the clinic.
2. Input and maintenance of accurate patient information on Trust information systems.
3. Provision of excellent customer service to members of the public and staff who visit or
contact the clinic.
4. Contribution to positive patient experiences

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria

5. Good educational standard of at least GCSE in English or Maths, or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria

6. Demonstrable customer service experience
7. Ability to prioritise work to meet tight deadlines
8. Previous clerical experience

Desirable criteria

9. Previous experience of working in hospital or NHS setting
10. Experience with information databases
11. Experience dealing with people in a healthcare or other stressful environments

Skills

Essential criteria

12. Basic computer literacy
13. Good interpersonal skills including professional telephone etiquette
14. Ability to use initiative
15. Good organisational skills

Desirable criteria

16. Microsoft Windows, Excel & Outlook Experience
