Our School
Taylor Road is a warm and caring community housed in an extensive site with the main school building, spread over 3 floors, that houses the nursery and reception (EYFS base), classrooms, library and nurture rooms alongside outdoor spaces, a ball court, sensory/ mindfulness garden plus 2 extra mobile classrooms to accommodate all of our amazing children.
Taylor Road is a multicultural Primary School maintained by the Leicester City Education Authority. We cater for the 3 to 11 age range and draw most of our children from the St Matthew's Estate and immediate surrounding area. The estate is close to Abbey Park and in recent years it has undergone a great deal of improvement in order to provide modern living facilities and good amenities for play and recreation.
In September 2009, we moved into a £11 million new state of the art school building on the corner of Taylor Road and Montreal Road. The school has a hall, a studio, a library, a practical room for STEAM subjects and 22 classrooms as well as the use of two mobile classrooms.
During the school year 2024/2025 we have approximately 650 children on roll including the Foundation Stage. Most children enter the school in Foundation 1 (Nursery) at the age of 3+ and attend on a part-time basis (mornings or afternoons). At the age of eleven, the children transfer to a variety of Secondary Schools in the city.
