Description
The Chemical Engineer's primary focus is to provide technical support regarding chemicals and the changing regulatory landscape, while applying engineering techniques to optimize chemical processes. They assist in improving manufacturing processes and products, including the design and development of facilities. They may serve in both technical and project management roles supporting new and existing projects.
Responsibilities include evaluating and testing new processes, improving current processes, data collection and analysis, troubleshooting plant/process issues, and supporting project engineers on collaborative projects.
Responsibilities
* Familiarity with EHS practices
* Familiarity with OSHA regulations
* Experience with ISO procedures, certification, Technical Data Sheets, COA, SDS, and regulatory compliance related to chemicals, including hazardous chemicals
* Ability to resolve complaints effectively
* Provide technical support for establishing and maintaining relationships with outside vendors (conversion, re-packaging, laboratory work, etc.)
* Ensure safety considerations are integrated at all production stages
* Manage chemical process design projects, including design, feasibility, implementation, budgeting, and reporting
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, optimize equipment and processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
* Coordinate with internal resources and vendors to resolve infrastructure issues
* Apply scientific, mathematical, and engineering principles to solve problems and improve processes, including data analysis and trend interpretation
* Complete documentation to ensure compliance with regulations and protocols
* Research new handling and manufacturing methods, estimating production costs
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related field from a 4-year college or university
* Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in a fast-paced, technical environment
* Project management experience with cross-functional teams is highly desired
* Experience in the chemical industry and chemical facility design
* Laboratory experience
* Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Additional technical training is a plus
