Overview
We are seeking an ambitious and motivated individual to join our operations team as a Trainee European Planner. This role offers hands‑on experience in European road freight, short sea shipping, and customs documentation. You will have the opportunity to develop into a skilled planner with broad logistics expertise, supported by comprehensive on‑the‑job training.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the planning and coordination of European road freight and short sea import/export shipments
* Assist with the preparation and management of customs and shipping documentation
* Monitor shipments, track progress, and provide updates to stakeholders
* Liaise with carriers, customers, and internal teams under supervision
* Gain exposure to deep sea, air freight, and multi-modal logistics operations
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
* Participate in training to develop knowledge of customs compliance and international trade
Requirements
* Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel within the UK
* Occasional overseas travel may be required as part of this role (to be discussed further at interview)
* GCSEs in English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above), or equivalent
* Motivated and ambitious, with a strong interest in logistics and freight forwarding
* Well organised, with good attention to detail
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Willing to learn and take on responsibility
* Interest in international trade, transport, or logistics
* Proactive, solution‑oriented mindset
* Flexible and adaptable, able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment
