To support this ambition, we are looking for an Application Specialist to support, maintain and enhance our core business systems, ensuring they are reliable, secure and aligned to organisational needs.
The Role
As an Application Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of the organisation’s application landscape. You will provide technical and functional expertise across a range of systems, working closely with stakeholders, vendors and internal teams to optimise performance and deliver enhancements. You’ll also support the ongoing development of our applications environment, helping to improve integration, user experience and data quality across the business.
What You Will Be Doing
* Providing day-to-day support for business applications, ensuring stability, performance and availability
* Managing incidents, problems and service requests in line with agreed service levels
* Supporting system upgrades, patching and maintenance of test environments
* Coordinating project deliver based on application specialisms, with partners and internally to GSA
* Working with stakeholders to identify and deliver system improvements and efficiencies
* Supporting integration between applications and ensuring accurate, secure data flows
* Assisting with reporting, analytics and business intelligence capabilities
* Coordinating testing, UAT and controlled release of system changesEnsuring applications comply with governance, security and data protection standards
* Building strong relationships with users and delivering training and guidance
* Working with vendors and partners to manage performance and identify opportunities for improvement
What We Are Looking For
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
You will ideally bring:
* Experience supporting and maintaining enterprise applications (e.g. HR, Finance, CRM, Housing systems)
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues
* Experience with tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL or similar
* Knowledge of application integration, data flows or APIs
* Understanding of IT governance, change management and release processes
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly language
* Experience working with suppliers or third-party vendors
A relevant IT qualification, ITIL Foundation (or working towards), or experience in a similar environment would be beneficial.
