Band 6 Occupational Therapist - Steps to Recovery

We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward thinking Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Rehabilitation and Recovery service based at David Bromley House.
David Bromley House is a 15 bedded unit for females with long term complex care needs, situated between two villages namely Knowle and Dorridge in Solihull, and is part of Steps to Recovery. David Bromley House provides rehabilitation in an unlocked facility for patients who are either receiving treatment under Section 3 of the Mental Health Act, or informal patients.
We offer a specialist service within a rehabilitation environment primarily for people with severe and enduring mental health problems and associated behaviours that require an extended period of in-patient support. A full range of multi-disciplinary assessments and treatment interventions are offered which have been developed using evidence based best practice to offer an effective service to service users, collaborating with families and carers. The service aims to provide appropriate therapeutic engagement to reduce symptoms of illness, improve service user social functioning, quality of life moving forward and assisting service users to achieve their recovery goals and aspirations for the future.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of rehabilitation interventions including upskilling and improving ADL, social & financial and budgeting skills, physical and mental health interventions for service users who will have a diagnosis of complex psychosis. Support and guidance withhousing & accommodation, recreational and vocational interventions.
As the OT in the team, you will have responsibility to assess and develop OT interventions, using a range of assessment and guidelines, including MOHOST and formulations.
You will have the direct support of a Band 7 Lead OT, OT Consultant, other Band 6 S2R staff and activity coordinator.

Person Specification
Qualification
* Has HCPC registration as an occupational therapist
* Has listed evidence of training post graduation, to include mandatory training but also evidence of additional training in clinical skills or leadership
Experience
* Has experience of work within mental health settings or in a previous role where mental health awareness is evidenced.
* Application demonstrates some insight into the difficulties and needs of this client group and how OT may contribute to their recovery and rehabilitation
* Application demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the role of OT with this client group and is able to communicate clearly issues for service users, carers, families.
* Evidence of detailed assessment skills, participation in team formulation and collaborative planning is clearly documented. Candidate is clear about role but willing to take a lead and responsibility where needed.
* Is able to describe support and supervision offered to colleagues, students of all professional groups and support staff
Personal skills and qualities
* Is able to work independently with minimal supervision. Manages time effectively. This includes the necessary updating of all clinical records and reports in a timely manner and within Trust and National requirements.
* Accesses supervision and maintains links with all professional forums independently
* Is able to use initiative and develop bespoke services within unit based on unit needs, in discussion with senior OT staff and team manager.
* Is able to demonstrate leadership skills, works well with others and demonstrates good communication skills based on self description
