What you’ll be doing
* Contributing to the development and improvement of our native shared codebase and toolchain. Our technology is used to produce an SDK and various white-label Android applications tailored for our clients.
* Supporting product and technology improvements, refactoring, and testing. Improve automated testing speed and quality, adapt existing technology, and explore new app designs or mobile products.
* Enhancing team performance. Participate in planning, propose improvements, share knowledge, and document work to ensure team success.
* Developing autonomous working skills. Refine tasks from loose definitions to completion within our development environment, and grow your domain knowledge.
* Sharing knowledge and best practices. Regularly share insights and contribute to team learning.
Requirements
* Proficiency in Android programming (Kotlin and Java).
* Significant experience in native Android development.
* Experience with version control (Git) and automated build systems (Jenkins).
* Knowledge of UNIX/Linux command line.
* Willingness to use Kotlin Compose and understanding of UX best practices.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate.
* Fluency in English, with strong communication skills.
* Experience with BDD and TDD, and refactoring for testability.
* Experience with privacy and security-related technology.
* Understanding of unit and behavioral testing.
* Professional mindset and self-sufficiency.
Preferred but not essential
* Experience supporting non-mobile developers with hybrid mobile tools.
* Experience with Android behavioral testing and power-efficient background code.
* Degree in Computer Science or related field.
* Experience building libraries, frameworks, and APIs.
* Understanding of DI frameworks.
* Experience with microelectronics or Bluetooth Low Energy devices.

* Typical hours are 9am–5.30pm, with occasional flexibility required.
* Reporting to the Lead Android Engineer.
* Fully remote work, with occasional team gatherings in Sheffield, UK.
* UK residency and right to work required.
* This is not a management role.
