Consultant Radiologist – Cross-sectional Imaging
The closing date is 15 April 2026. This opportunity is to join an established cohesive team of Radiologists supporting clinicians and delivering acute and elective imaging in specialist and general radiology.
Responsibilities include:
* Vet and report imaging studies.
* Sub‑specialty Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) preparation/attendance.
* Duty sessions – hot reporting, CT/MRI and emergency imaging.
* On‑call duties (currently 1 in 12, including weekday 5pm‑8pm and shared weekends 10am‑4pm).
* Cross‑cover for colleagues during annual leave.
* Weekly MDTs, departmental meetings and timely advice to GPs and clinicians.
* Teaching, audit, and research activities.
Job plan: Minimum 1.5 SPA, remainder DCC; remote working supported where capacity allows.
Qualifications and Experience
* FRCR or equivalent, fully registered with the GMC.
* Within 6 months of entry onto the Specialist Register.
Person Specification
Knowledge & Experience
* Extensive experience in general radiology including plain film interpretation, ultrasound, CT, fluoroscopy and MRI.
* Competency in high‑volume reporting and MDT meetings.
* Competency in sub‑specialty of interest.
Education, Training & Qualifications
* Basic Medical Qualification (MB ChB/MBBS or equivalent).
* FRCR or equivalent.
* Certificate of Specialist Training in Radiology (or within 6 months of award).
* At least 2 years working in radiology in the NHS.
* Completion of a recognised training programme with wide radiological experience.
* Sub‑specialty training and NHS working experience.
* Additional undergraduate or postgraduate qualification.
Skills
* Interest and experience in teaching medical undergraduates, radiology and non‑radiology junior staff and other healthcare professionals.
* Continuing professional development and contribution to service improvement.
* Team leadership, staff management, and effective teamwork.
* Excellent communication with medical colleagues, patients and carers.
* Strategic awareness of service development, governance, and health improvement, and ability to manage change.
* Financial understanding of budgeting and resource management.

Pay range: £109,725 to £145,478 per annum (pro rata).
