Overview
We are on the lookout for a dynamic Infrastructure Engineer or Assistant Engineer to join our rapidly growing Infrastructure Engineering team in our Solent Office. You’ll be working with a diverse portfolio of clients across various sectors throughout the UK, making a real impact and driving innovation in the industry.
You will be working with experienced engineers on the preparation of technical drawings and plans, providing input on design elements, developing infrastructure solutions, producing CAD drawings, and contributing to innovative, practical, and efficient designs. You should understand Infrastructure best practice and standards, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and consistently deliver high-quality work while collaborating to support engineers in the production of technical drawings and plans. Proficiency with AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) is required, and comfort with sketches, mark-ups, and specifications is expected. A willingness to learn, grow professionally, and take on increasing responsibility within the team is essential.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to delivering high-quality support across a range of civil engineering projects.
* Prepare technical drawings and plans, provide input on design elements, and develop infrastructure solutions.
* Produce CAD drawings and contribute to innovative, practical, and efficient designs.
* Collaborate with engineers to support the production of technical drawings and plans.
* Undertake a supporting role for both minor and major projects, including taking independent responsibility for less complex tasks and managing own workload.
* Utilise UK design codes, standards and guidance for private and adoptable highways when applicable (e.g., Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Local Authority design standards, Building Regulations).
* Demonstrate numeracy and software literacy with working knowledge of AutoCAD for 2D drawings; knowledge of 3D design packages is advantageous but not essential as training can be provided.
Qualifications
* HNC / BSc / BEng / MEng in Civil Engineering or related subject.
* A minimum of 1 year relevant work experience.
* Consultancy/private sector development background with a desire towards private sector development work.
* Understanding of UK highway design principles and knowledge of applicable UK design codes, standards and guidance for both private and adoptable highways.
* Experience delivering Section 38 and 278 highway drawings for planning, tender and construction purposes for private sector developments.
* Ability to create 2D technical drawings in AutoCAD; numerate and software literate. Knowledge of 3D design packages (e.g., Site 3D or Civils 3D) is beneficial, with training available.
* Ability to undertake a supporting role on projects, including taking independent responsibility for less complex tasks and managing workload, with professional judgment to identify and analyse issues and inform decisions.
