Job Description:
This hybrid role offers a great balance of home and office working. You’ll join your colleagues in your local office at least 2 days a week.
As the UK’s largest fibre-only network, and its only proven wholesale challenger, we’re busy setting new standards for digital infrastructure.
Designed from scratch for the internet, our network is greener, more reliable, and future-ready. The products we provide over it lead the market on speed, value, and service, helping businesses innovate, communities improve their digital lives, and supporting economic growth both locally and nationally.
What does that mean for you? The opportunity to improve internet connections and daily life for many people!
Joining us as a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer - 6 month FTC
We’re expanding our engineering team to ensure seamless integration of newly acquired infrastructure. You’ll play a key role in onboarding third-party assets—such as Fibre Exchanges, Active Cabinets, and Colocation sites—ensuring they meet our standards for compliance, security, and operational excellence. This is a great opportunity to work at the heart of our network transformation, collaborating with cross-functional teams and shaping the future of connectivity.
You’ll receive a competitive salary, performance bonus, and benefits supporting your wellbeing.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
* Auditing and testing acquired infrastructure including FEX/PoP, FAC, and colocation sites
* Preparing detailed Integration Plans including scope, budget, and timelines
* Managing onboarding with the Network Operations Centre (NOC)
* Overseeing site updates in Asset Management systems
* Coordinating with supply partners for integration works
* Managing vendor relationships and ensuring compliance with CityFibre standards
What you’ll bring to the role
You’re a motivated engineer with strong communication skills and a passion for infrastructure integration. You’ll also have:
* 18th Edition BS7671 certification (essential)
* Experience in vendor management and infrastructure auditing
* Knowledge of mechanical and electrical datacentre design and operation
* Familiarity with regulatory compliance and asset management systems
