Overview

Join to apply for the Controls/Automation Support Engineer role at Thatchers Cider Company Ltd at Myrtle Farm. This is a full-time permanent position focused on troubleshooting, continuous improvements and maintenance to ensure high production efficiencies. The role supports a dynamic and growing engineering team during ongoing expansion and site improvements.


What will I be doing?

As a Controls/Automation Support Engineer you will operate in an active and responsive role to ensure production lines operate safely and efficiently. You will work closely with the Production Manager to identify issues and improve line performance. Our production lines include automated canning, kegging, bottling and fruit processing/fermentation systems.

* Work with Siemens and Allen Bradley PLCs
* Fault find and troubleshoot software and electrical issues
* Undertake a mix of proactive maintenance, continuous improvement initiatives and breakdown response of production issues
* Investigate and resolve breakdowns and malfunctions using programming tools, electrical testing equipment, and remote dial-in support services
* Apply experience and knowledge from line familiarity to improve operations
* Contribute to conception and implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives or Energy Efficiency improvement schemes
* Provide reactive support as part of the team, including occasional out-of-hours work shared across the engineering team

Skills & qualities

* Experience in an industrial setting
* Experience maintaining and overseeing automation equipment (PLC drives & motors, sensors, control systems, robots, machinery)
* Ability to access and fault-find PLC control systems
* Competence in configuring and setting up automation equipment (PLC, inverter drives, motor control, safety systems, pneumatics)
* Ability to understand and modify electrical schematics and pneumatic drawings
