The role
As a ITVx Video Tester, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of our video products across various platforms and devices. You will play a crucial role in identifying and reporting defects, ensuring a seamless user experience, and contributing to the overall success of our video content.
Main responsibilities
* Execute test plans and test cases to evaluate video playback, streaming quality, audio synchronisation, resolution, and overall performance.
* Accurately document and report bugs, glitches, and inconsistencies using bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
* Testing video content across a wide range of devices (smart TVs, mobile devices, desktops, gaming consoles) and operating systems (iOS, Android, Windows, macOS).
* Verify bug fixes and ensure that issues are resolved effectively.
* Monitor video streaming performance, including buffering, latency, and load times.
* Perform regression testing to ensure new features and bug fixes do not introduce new issues.
* Work closely with engineers, product managers, and other team members to ensure timely resolution of issues and a high-quality product.
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of test plans and test cases.
* Awareness of the latest video technologies, codecs, and streaming protocols and DRM systems.
Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)
* Previous experience in video testing or quality assurance, preferably in a streaming or media environment.
* Familiarity with a wide range of devices and operating systems used for video playback.
* Experience using bug tracking and test management tools.
* Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for identifying defects.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
* Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in an agile environment.
Other things we're looking for (key criteria)
* Experience with video testing automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium).
* Understanding of network protocols and troubleshooting network-related video issues.
* Knowledge of accessibility standards related to video, such as closed captioning and audio descriptions.
* Knowledge of how CDNs function and their impact on video delivery.
* Able to put various devices in debug mode or able to extra logs from devices
* Understanding of video codecs (e.g., H.264, H.265, VP9), streaming protocols (e.g., HLS, DASH), and video playback technologies.
* Previous experience using various test case management & orchestration software
* Used cloud based testing solutions.
