Overview
PM Group is seeking an experienced Lead Building Services Engineer to join our growing Edinburgh team, supporting the design and delivery of Mission Critical (Data Centre) and Life Sciences projects across the UK and internationally.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of complex building services systems in facilities where performance, reliability, and innovation are essential. You’ll work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, helping shape the next generation of high-tech and life-changing infrastructure.
Responsibilities
1. Lead the conceptual and detailed design of mechanical and building services systems for data centres, laboratories, cleanrooms, and pharmaceutical facilities.
2. Collaborate with architects, structural, electrical, and process engineers to deliver fully integrated solutions.
3. Provide technical direction, mentoring, and leadership to engineers and graduates within the team.
4. Support bids, proposals, and client presentations, contributing to PM Group’s continued growth in the Mission Critical and Life Sciences sectors.
5. Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry regulations, sustainability frameworks, and quality standards (including BREEAM and LEED).
6. Champion the use of digital design tools such as Revit, BIM, and Navisworks to drive innovation and efficiency.
Qualifications
7. Degree (or equivalent) in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, or Architectural Engineering.
8. Chartered Engineer (CEng) with CIBSE or IMechE.
9. Significant experience within building services design, ideally across Life Sciences and/or Mission Critical projects.
10. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, cleanroom design, HVAC, and data centre cooling technologies.
11. Comprehensive knowledge of design codes, standards, and sustainability practices.
12. Skilled in Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, and BIM-based project delivery.
13. Collaborative, adaptable, and committed to delivering technical excellence.
