Senior Structural Design Engineer - Environment (Water)
Locations: Solihull / Grangemouth (Scotland) / Nottingham (Annesley / Warrington / Bristol), other locations may be considered.
What you will be doing:
You will be an important member of the Engineering Design Team, working with Principal Engineers, Design Teams, and Managers to deliver high-quality designs in compliance with GT processes, BMS, and H&S regulations. This technical role requires expertise in water and wastewater industry design, with potential line management responsibilities.
You will provide technical direction, contribute to engineering governance, support procurement, and site activities, and mentor early-career engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
* Deliver structural designs in water/wastewater projects.
* Review schemes, produce reports, calculations, and drawings.
* Design reinforced concrete and steel structures for water and infrastructure projects.
* Modify existing structural assets.
* Mentor junior engineers and support design and construction teams.
* Support planning, cost estimation, and project scheduling.
* Conduct site visits and structural assessments.
Specific Requirements:
* Extensive experience in structural design for water/wastewater sector.
* Knowledge of British Standards, Eurocodes, BS EN standards.
* Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAADPro, Strand, TEKLA, TEDDS or similar).
* Strong communication and organizational skills.
* Experience with structural assessments and reports.
Other Requirements:
* Proven track record in water sector structures projects.
* Knowledge of structural design for water retaining structures.
* Experience across project stages from design to construction.
* Ability to liaise with clients and manage technical discussions.
* Familiarity with NEC contracts and health & safety regulations.
