As a Shift Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the performance, safety, and reliability of our vehicles. Your technical expertise and attention to detail will help keep our services running smoothly and our customers moving every day.
Shift Pattern
5 days over 7, Early and late shifts covering 0500-2230
Pay & Benefits
1. £25.75 per hour
2. Overtime rate: £38.62 per hour
3. 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

What You’ll Do
6. Carry out thorough daily vehicle inspections to identify faults, defects, or safety issues
7. Respond to on-road breakdowns, diagnosing faults and completing minor repairs where possible
8. Support both planned and unplanned maintenance activities within the workshop
9. Ensure all work is completed in line with safety, legal, and Arriva engineering standards
10. Accurately complete service sheets, inspection reports, and maintenance records
11. Work collaboratively with fellow engineers, supervisors, operations teams and wider teams to keep services running and strive for continuous improvements
What We’re Looking For
12. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in PSV or HGV Engineering with time served experience.
13. Strong understanding of industry standards, safety procedures, and diagnostic techniques
14. Confidence working independently and following technical instructions
15. Good mechanical skills with experience using workshop tools and equipment
16. Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks
17. Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends
