Job overview
We currently have vacancies for registered nurses on Ward 34.
Ward 34 is a 27 bedded male Acute Trauma Ward, caring for patients with acute or pathological fractures or acute joint conditions.
On the ward you willcare forpatients from admission via Accident and Emergency or OrthopaedicClinic.We care for our Orthopaedic high care patients here on our ward so you will get experience providing high level post operative care.
Within the same environment you will also care for patients rehabilitating post injury - and we are proud to be at the forefront of the #endPJParalysis campaign - working with our multi-disciplinary team in preventing patients from deconditioning.
Due to the nature of trauma, you will nurse patients with extensive skin damage and we work closely with tissue viability, to teach our staff the necessary skills.
Main duties of the job
Many of our patients have existing comorbidities so you will also gain experience dealing with many medical conditions. Some of our patients may become confused, or have dementia -and we are proud to encourage all our staff to become dementia friends, to actively support the Butterfly campaign and, as a pilot site for the trust, we are instrumental in developing Johns campaign.
We are also the trusts pilot area for training nursing associates - so encouraging, developing and supporting our teams is a key part of what we do.
A full induction package and preceptorship programme will be offered and a Practice Development Sister works with the ward to help address any of your current and future development needs. There will also be the opportunity for further study in the area of Trauma Orthopaedics and associated courses such as Student Nurse Mentorship, Tissue Viability and Dementia and leading on to relevant management courses.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (1st or 2nd Level)
