Role: Engineering & Building Services Assessor / Trainer
Responsibilities
* Provide induction, assessment, training, coaching, teaching and assessment to apprentices undertaking Apprenticeship Programmes and supporting qualification(s); teach, assess, support, advise and assist apprentices during training at college and in the workplace; supervise apprentices and respond to queries.
* Participate in the promotional and marketing aspects of the college; undertake initial assessment of apprentices and assist in apprenticeship actions planning.
* Assess apprentices’ progress and maintain records of assessments; create an engaging learning programme to inspire and motivate apprentices in plumbing and heating; develop flexible learning programmes for group and 1:1 delivery, including a digital learning platform alongside traditional face-to-face learning.
* Deliver knowledge-based learning modules in accordance with assessment guidelines; co-ordinate classroom learning with other college teams; conduct regular assessment of learning through workplace observations and professional discussions.
* Create bespoke learning plans for each apprentice; conduct timely 12-week progress reviews and gather employer feedback to maintain high satisfaction and engagement.
* Engage in ongoing curriculum review to ensure innovation and impact; work with the Functional Skills Team to embed English, Maths and ICT; use the college e-portfolio system to evidence and log learning interventions; ensure timely progression of apprenticeship standards and qualifications.
* Prepare apprentices for end point assessment, conducting mock assessments; work with college and strand IQA to ensure high quality internal checks; maintain accurate records of assessments and achievements; ensure effective delivery of work-based assessment and target setting.
* Complete administrative activities in line with college assessment and verification policy; deliver in accordance with the standard operating model and ESFA funding guidelines.
Qualifications
* Level 2 (e.g., GCSE) English and Maths at Grade B or above.
* Qualified to NVQ Level 3, or equivalent, in an engineering and/or Building Services discipline (engineering: machining, technical support role, inspection or maintenance preferred).
* Industry qualifications must include: Apprenticeship certificate; L3 NVQ in related disciplines; L3 City and Guilds or BTEC.
* Assessor to demonstrate commitment to completing the TAQA Assessor Award within 12 months.
