Job Description:

* About the role
* Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy of the business as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
* Delivery of ISO-certified safety and environmental management systems.
* Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on Health and Safety, Environmental risk, and Safety Culture, including road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
* Ownership of company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring suitable arrangements are in place and managed.
* Responsible for delivering Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs in conjunction with the Head of Safety & Risk, promoting positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
* Leading relationships and dialogue with internal and external stakeholders interested in the business's safety and legal compliance (e.g., HSE, DVSA, Local Authorities, Trade Associations).
* Ensuring incidents and accidents are fully investigated by trained colleagues, with escalation as needed, and liaising with external stakeholders such as emergency services and media.

About you
* At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
* Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO integrated systems
* Auditing qualifications and experience
* Environmental Risk qualifications
* Extensive Accident Investigation experience, including root cause analysis
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to influence at senior levels
* A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
