Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that from 1 April 2023, roles requiring PVG membership will require candidates to cover the cost. This applies only to roles with a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above (e.g., Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above, currently £30,285 per annum / £16.64 per hour).
The Council will initially pay for the PVG membership, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from the employee’s first full month’s salary.
Job purpose/about the role
The Social Worker will work closely with partner agencies to respond to concerns about the care, protection, and welfare of children. They will lead on progressing Child’s Plans for children deemed to need support, care, and protection under the legislative framework. The work is rewarding and relies on a clear understanding of the National Practice Model GIRFEC, as well as a sound knowledge of Child Protection within Children’s Services. Applicants must have good communication skills and experience or commitment to multi-agency working.
The worker will be accountable for timely work undertaken for children and families, assessing needs, planning, and delivering interventions to safeguard children, and creating an environment where service users can maximize their potential.
The Social Worker will contribute to operational priorities and engage effectively with staff and multi-agency partners.
Minimum requirements:
* BA Social Work qualification or equivalent DipSW, CQSW
* SSSC Registration
* PVG

* Needs assessment and effective social work interventions
* Prioritizing tasks, managing workload, ensuring quality case work
* Effective verbal and written communication, building rapport
* Negotiation skills and implementing change
