About the opportunity…
We seek a highly skilled individual to join the Group Procurement Team as the Head of Procurement Category (GHoPC) for Supply Chain. Reporting to the Group Procurement Director, the GHoPC Supply Chain is responsible for building and maintaining excellent working relationships with budget holders and other key stakeholders across the Supply Chain.
To support the implementation of value services within agreed budgets with a focus on saving delivery as well as sustainability agenda reflecting the Company business strategy. Supply Chain and logistics are critical to the business's success, ensuring stock moves efficiently around the business as part of the retail 'buy, move and sell' model.
Your impact and responsibilities…
* Create and lead a short-term and long-term supply chain procurement category strategy with an actionable plan that secures Stakeholder buy-in and enhances the business strategy's capabilities and output, including ethical and responsible sourcing.
* Create a clear operational strategy geared around the business cost-saving and sustainability targets for the Supply Chain category.
* Negotiate, control negotiation and support the team in building the negotiation strategy with suppliers of the particular procurement subcategory.
* Co-responsible (with the stakeholder) for budget creation of the supply chain procurement category and control the budget realisation.
* Develop a clear SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) program to ensure the development of close, synergistic working relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.
* Responsible for RFPs (Request for Proposals) led and managed by the Group Supply Chain Category Buying Managers with new and existing suppliers, aligned to the overall supplier strategy.
* Establish and drive best practice processes and governance across all entities, contract management, and supplier management activity across Europe's Supply Chain procurement category.
* Lead, manage and develop the Supply Chain Procurement Category team in line with our values, behaviours, strategic agenda, and the particular team member development plan.
* Actively seek alternative, blended or innovative solutions to meet the changing demands of the business.
* Working with the legal team to secure the accuracy and correctness of the legal framework.
Skills and knowledge…
* A Master's degree and/or relevant MCIPS certificate.
* Member of Procurement bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Procurement Specialists (CIPS) or other Industry associations.
* Broad understanding of fast-moving business (FMCG / retail) and procurement needs.
* Knowledge of procurement excellence, including process technology supporting procurement activities and ethical code.
* Knowledge of ESG regulations and requirements
* Robust background in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and cost optimisation
* Commercial negotiation experience with a track record of delivering cost savings, service improvements, and supplier innovation.
* Experience in managing multiple projects and deadlines.
* Effective & successful team management to achieve procurement goals, negotiate favourable contracts, and implement innovative strategies within the supply chain category.
* Effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
* Practical usage of ERP and procurement systems to support spending control and deliver savings.
* Happy with some national and international business travel.
* Highly proficient in spoken and written English.
