The job itself
Two Personal Assistants are required for a man who lives at home with his parents for 7 hours per week for each PA.
This young man mostly non-verbal. He has a speech assistance app on his iPad to help him communicate.
He has autism and epilepsy, but his epilepsy is well controlled by medication.
He is not independent and needs help with toileting and needs to have someone accompany him at all times when out and about to ensure he is safe.
He currently attends other provision away from the home 3 days a week with a 1:1 support, and has some limited PA support but he now needs further PA support, to accompany him one half day a week to a new provision, to work with him in the home one evening a week, and to take him out on social outings one weekend day a week (this for three weeks out of four).
The successful applicant will have experience of working with neurodiversity, and can demonstrate sensitivity, kindness, patience and a caring approach. Must be reliable and to be able to build a supportive relationship with this young man.
Car driver preferred but not essential.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.
