Job Opportunity: Support Worker (Temporary, Part-Time)
Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Shifts: Rota basis across Monday to Sunday
Role Overview
As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for delivering person-centred support to young people experiencing homelessness. The role involves key working, risk assessment, advocacy, and supporting clients in their journey towards independent living. Please note: This position involves lone working.
Key Responsibilities
* Hold a caseload of six key clients and conduct regular keywork sessions to develop and review individual support plans
* Carry out comprehensive risk and needs assessments
* Assess new referrals against project criteria, and provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants
* Support clients in preparing for independent living, ensuring appropriate support networks and resources are in place
* Build trusting, professional relationships with clients while maintaining clear boundaries
* Encourage and support participation in education, training, employment, and volunteering
* Liaise and advocate with external agencies including local authorities, benefits agencies, and other statutory and voluntary bodies
* Address challenging behaviour in a sensitive and professional manner; document incidents appropriately
* Maintain a safe and secure environment, ensuring high standards of health and safety
* Manage collection of service charges and petty cash in line with policy
Person Specification
Essential Experience
* Supporting young people experiencing homelessness
* Working within a residential housing project
* Managing a caseload, conducting support planning, and completing risk and needs assessments
* Involving service users in shaping the support they receive
Knowledge & Skills
* Strong understanding of the causes and impacts of youth homelessness
* Awareness of young people\'s support needs and the services/resources available
* Knowledge of Health & Safety and anti-discriminatory practices
* Clear understanding of Safeguarding protocols and professional boundaries
* Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office and client databases
