Specialist Pharmacist - Substance Misuse Services
Band 7 | Permanent | up to 0.6 wte - 22.2 hours
£50,861 - £59,159 pro rata per annum
Please note: As this post is part-time, the salary will be pro-rata.
(including public holiday commitments as required, flexible working request will be considered)
About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a pharmacist to join the substance use team in Edinburgh City. This post will provide pharmaceutical care and an independent prescribing service to the substance use service in Edinburgh City. Part-time hours or split posting will be considered.
The post holder(s) will work as a prescribing pharmacist in Edinburgh HSCP Substance Use Services (SUS) - prescribing for and managing a caseload of patients suffering from polysubstance addiction. The particular post will be based in the Edinburgh Medication Assisted Treatment Clinic (EdMAC) at the Spittal Street Centre, working as part of the established MDT in delivering same day care to patients as outlined in the MAT Standards. As there is currently pharmacy cover for the service on a Monday and Tuesday this successful post holder will be required to work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
There may be a requirement to travel across sites.
* NE Recovery hub in Leith
* NW Recovery hub in Muirhouse
* SE Recovery hub in Spittal Street
* SW Recovery hub in Wester Hailes
The post holder(s) will develop joint working with third sector partners Change Grow Live and Turning Point, who will provide psychosocial support to the patients of the post holders case load and support the post holder in this aspect. The post holder(s) will also work as a liaison to the local community pharmacies which support the hubs. They will provide support, development and training to the community pharmacies. There may be opportunities for service development and research activities.
The post holder(s) will be invited to join local and national substance misuse networks and be an active member of the MDT for quality prescribing, service review, and research and audit activities.
About You
The post holder should be an independent prescriber. Training and support within the clinical area of substance misuse will be provided. The post holder is employed within NHS Lothian and there may be a requirement to work flexibly across Lothian to meet service demands. Candidates must have a Master of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent and must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and should have completed or have equivalent competence mapped to the
Ideally, candidates will have experience pro-actively influencing prescribing, and will have gained experience working in a patient focused environment using their knowledge and skills to improve patient care and promote optimal outcomes from medicines.
