Responsibilities This role is for a fixed‑term NHS Locum Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist to provide medical leadership for the Roding inpatient ward based at St Margaret's Hospital Epping Essex.
The Consultant will provide medical leadership for a multidisciplinary team comprising resident doctors, ward nursing team, psychiatrists, CPNs, OT and psychologist.
The post holder will work closely with the ward managers and the wider MDT to provide a safe and effective service, and will work closely with the relevant community teams to contribute to an effective care pathway for patients across the service.
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician (RC) for patients under their care on the Roding ward for patients detained under the Mental Health Act. The post holder will carry out the duties expected of an RC knowledgably and in a timely manner, be knowledgeable of the Mental Capacity Act and be proficient at applying it appropriately to patient care.
The post holder will have responsibility for the clinical care of those patients admitted to the inpatient unit on the ward, and will work closely with the team and the ward manager to ensure the provision of an effective service.
Qualifications Full GMC registration and specialist registration are required. The applicant must be on the Specialist Register with an appropriate CCT or equivalent, or be within six months of obtaining a CCT on the date of the application.
