Behaviour Support Mentor - Ideal for Youth Work / Prison Service / Care Backgrounds
Location: PRU in Trafford, Greater Manchester | Full-Time | Term-Time Only

Are you experienced in supporting young people in challenging settings such as youth work, secure units, prison services, or residential care? Are you looking for a new opportunity to positively impact the lives of children in education?
Aspire People are currently working with a dynamic and inclusive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Trafford, Greater Manchester, to recruit a committed and resilient Behaviour Support Mentor. This is an ideal role for those ready to transition into a school environment and support students with high-level needs from the moment they enter the provision.
The Role:
You will be working with pupils aged 11-16 who are no longer in mainstream school and who may present with:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Challenging or explosive behaviours
- Backgrounds involving trauma or instability, including those who are Looked After Children (LAC)
Your role will involve:
- Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Acting as a trusted adult, helping pupils to feel safe and secure
- De-escalating situations calmly and helping students regulate their emotions
- Building consistent, supportive relationships that re-engage learners with education
We're Looking For:
- Experience working in youth services, probation, prison support, residential care, or other high-support environments
- A calm, grounded, and empathetic approach
- The ability to handle challenging behaviour confidently and positively
- A commitment to helping vulnerable pupils overcome barriers and thrive
