This position is a Technical Director level role within the Pump Centre, a Centre of Excellence focused on the Water Industry. You will lead this business unit as a clearly defined service provider with full accountability for Profit & Loss. The successful candidate will manage a large client base, maintain current service levels, and deliver a strategy for future development and growth. Key responsibilities include dynamic leadership, co‑ordination, and service delivery across events, conferences, and training to satisfaction of membership. You will build and manage a pool of industry experts and work effectively across organisational boundaries.
Role accountabilities
* Proactively manage the business unit to deliver planned performance and grow services to the satisfaction of Arcadis and Pump Centre members.
* Take ownership for the delivery of benefits and services to all members.
* Ensure adequate resources for service delivery and identify needs for strategic recruitment.
* Build a profile with a wide range of water industry clients and maintain Arcadis’ reputation for high‑quality delivery.
* Communicate with team members to ensure understanding, engagement, and alignment with company and client initiatives.
* Create and manage quality processes, ensuring a quality service to the members.
* Plan, direct, and control tasks, people, and a large stakeholder community.
* Lead the team and develop staff to meet changing needs.
* Provide business leadership, direction, and pastoral care, developing team members to their full potential and championing a quality, innovative, and entrepreneurial culture.
* Resolve issues and provide guidance and support to other team members.
* Be familiar with, and compliant with, relevant H&S regulations and promote a culture of H&S awareness within the team.
* Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by your Client Manager or Arcadis Senior Leadership Team.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experienced engineering professional with in‑depth knowledge of the Regulated Water sector.
* Leader capable of providing direction, support, and motivation to the team.
* Effective communicator who works well with people from other organisations and backgrounds.
* Working knowledge of project and programme management.
* Working knowledge of contract and commercial management.
* Excellent communicator who promotes and drives technical excellence and client service.
* Strong people‑management skills, ensuring the best talent delivers services effectively and efficiently.
* Exhibits behaviours consistent with Arcadis vision and values.
