Lead Officer, Adult Support & Protection and Mental Health
Hours: 37 hours per week, Permanent position
Salary: £56,512 to £61,509 per annum (including £2,997 Distant Islands Allowance)
Location: Western Isles – Mental Health services within the Social and Community Services Department
Responsibilities
* Implement and maintain a system for monitoring performance of adult support and protection services, ensuring the Council's statutory duties are discharged.
* Lead professional social work operational functions relating to the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007, Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2007, Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 and subsequent relevant legislation.
* Provide support to the Adult Protection Committee, bridging the strategic overview with front‑line operations and ensuring core responsibilities are discharged under the Chair’s direction.
* Work with the Service Manager, Assessment and Care Management and Team Leader to manage statutory duties and provisions under Adult Support and Protection, Adults with Incapacity and Mental Health legislation.
* Act as Lead Officer for the Western Isles in relation to Mental Health services delivered by the Social and Community Services Department.
* Oversee multi‑agency partnership working, chair multi‑agency case conferences, and manage staff as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Must hold CQSW, Dip SW, Social Work (or equivalent) and a post‑qualifying award in Mental Health.
* Full UK Driving Licence required.
* Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is required for regulated work with adults and children.
