We are seeking an Assistant Utility Surveyor to join our growing Geospatial team. As an Assistant Utility Surveyor, you’ll support senior surveyors in identifying, mapping, and documenting underground utilities. This role blends hands-on fieldwork with technical data collection to help ensure safe and efficient planning for construction and infrastructure projects. This role offers a pathway to becoming a fully trained Utility Surveyor.
As an Assistant Utility Surveyor at Ridge, you will benefit from on-job learning experiences whilst working on prestigious projects. Our projects include large residential, industrial and commercial schemes with contract values over £30 million to smaller schemes. You will work with clients including large retail companies, local authorities, schools/universities, contractors, and developers, with the option to work on overseas projects.

Key Responsibilities
* Assist in locating and marking underground utilities using detection equipment
* Support the setup and operation of survey instruments (e.g. GPS, total stations, ground penetrating radar)
* Collect and record accurate data on utility assets and site conditions
* Interpret utility drawings and plans to aid survey accuracy
* Maintain equipment and ensure safe working practices on-site
* Help prepare survey reports and documentation for clients
* Communicate effectively with team members and site personnel
* Follow health and safety protocols
Skills and Experience
* Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Good physical fitness and willingness to travel and work outdoors in varying conditions
* Full UK driving licence
* Desire to learn and progress within the surveying field
The role requires a combination of working in a team office environment and outdoors on various sites. Travel to sites and occasional extended stays away from home may be required. Depending on the site, you may work shifts or out of hours.
