Offer description

We are looking for 2 x part-time Healthcare Assistants to join our nighttime Hospice Care @ Home service in Somerset.

Role: Band 2 Healthcare Assistant

Working hours: 22:00pm – 07:00am

Salary: £24,464 per annum (pro rata), plus enhancements and a full range of Marie Curie employee discount and benefits.

Location: Somerset (25 mile radius to your home address)

As a Healthcare Assistant in our Somerset Hospice Care at Home night service, you’ll provide compassionate, person‑centred care to people at the end of life in the comfort of their own homes. Working as part of a small, supportive team aligned with the local Integrated Neighbourhood Team, you’ll help ensure patients and their families receive the right care at the right time.

This is a lone‑working role during the night, giving you autonomy while still being closely connected to your wider team. You’ll follow individual care plans to provide personal care, comfort, symptom support and emotional reassurance. You’ll monitor and report changes, maintain dignity, and help create a calm, safe environment for patients and those important to them.

Because our service manages its own referrals, you’ll benefit from smoother communication, better continuity of care and a strong sense of ownership within the team. If you’re caring, reliable, confident working independently at night and passionate about supporting people at the end of life, we’d love you to join us.

What we're looking for:

* National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Health and Social Care OR an equivalent alternative Level 2 Qualification.
* Minimum of 6 months care delivery experience in a Health or Social Care Environment.
* Knowledge and understanding of Palliative Care and/or End-of-Life Care
* Knowledge and understanding of how to deliver person centred care and the components of open and sensitive communication
* Willingness to undertake work during the night, as advertised
* Proficient IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Valid UK driving licence with access to a vehicle

Additional information

What's in it for you:

* Annual leave allowance 27 days plus 8 public holidays (pro rata)
* Competitive Policy for parental/sick Leave
* Industry leading training programmes
* Season ticket loan for travelling to and from work
* Defined contribution schemes for Pension
* Loan schemes for bikes; computers and satellite navigation systems
* Introduce a friend scheme
* Help with eye care costs
* Entitled to Marie Curie Blue Light Card
* Entitled to Benefit-Hub Discount Scheme
