Location: Stanley, Falkland Islands. Closing on 26 September 2025 at 12:00. Contract | Full Time | 37.5 hours per week.
Starting salary and additional benefits are package dependent on qualifications and experience, including gratuity and allowances where applicable.
The Opportunity
The Falkland Islands Government is expanding its Minerals Resources Department and seeks an adviser to support, guide and provide expert regulatory health and safety advice to the Director and Senior Project Manager. The role includes developing offshore safety policy proposals, drafting instructions for the legal team, conducting primary and secondary research, and analysing policy options to align with best practices in offshore oil and gas globally.
Responsibilities
* Provide support, guidance and expert regulatory advice on Health and Safety requirements.
* Develop offshore safety policy proposals and prepare drafting instructions for the legal team.
* Conduct primary and secondary research and identify best practices from other jurisdictions.
* Analyse policy alternatives and recommend Falkland Islands solutions aligned with industry best practice.
The Successful Candidate Will Be
* A track record of relevant public sector policy experience, ideally in offshore Health and Safety.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to express ideas clearly and effectively.
* Ability to work within a team with autonomy and manage sensitive confidential information with tact and judgement.
* Organised, articulate, persuasive, with strong interpersonal skills to work with colleagues, senior government leaders, elected officials, industry representatives and external partners.
* Enthusiastic, self-motivated, proactive, strategic thinker and problem solver who is a team player.
* Flexible, adaptable and responsive.
* Degree in a relevant subject (public policy, law, health & safety) and preferably a Masters/post-graduate qualification relevant to offshore hydrocarbons.
