Job overview

We are recruiting a motivated and skilled senior individual to join our friendly and dedicated Resuscitation Services team at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of high-quality resuscitation training, supporting clinical emergency response across the Trust, and helping to shape best practice in the management of deteriorating patients. Working closely with the Head of Resuscitation Services, and the other Resuscitation Officers, you will act as a clinical expert, educator, and role model, contributing to training, audit and governance processes in resuscitation care.

We are looking for an experienced individual who:

- Is a registered nurse (child), or ODP with appropriate registration.

- Has extensive acute paediatric experience (, PICU, CICU, etc).

- Hold relevant advanced resuscitation (EPALS or APLS) and teaching qualifications (GIC or PGCert).

- Demonstrates strong clinical and leadership skills.

- Is committed to advancing inclusive education and high-quality patient care.

Main duties of the job

· Provide Great Ormond Street Foundation NHS Trust with the highest possible level of specific training and education in resuscitation thus, enabling practitioners to perform effectively therefore improving patient care and reducing clinical risk.

· Undertake reviews on all Clinical Emergency Team calls to provide the Trust and Head of Resuscitation Services with accurate information on the effectiveness of recognition and management skills in clinical emergencies.

· Undertake and assist Project Lead with Trust wide “Just in Case” Training programme and record keeping.

· Undertake and assist with Trust wide audit of resuscitation training, practice and equipment to highlight areas for service improvement.

· To assist in the development of resuscitation related policies in conjunction with the resuscitation committee and the Head of Resuscitation Services.

· To act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner in all areas related to resuscitation.

· Maintain, further develop and support the role of the Basic Life Support Instructors within the Trust.

· Continually evaluate training programmes to ensure that they meet the training requirement of clinical staff and agree and implement change when required after consultation with the Head of Resuscitation Services/ Resuscitation Committee.

Academic/Professional qualification/Training


Essential criteria

* Be a healthcare professional registered as an RN Child with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or a Allied Health Professional (ODP) with HCPC registration
* Extensive experience in acute paediatrics (ED, HDU, ICU)
* Be educated to degree level or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience
* Advanced Life Support Course Qualification (EPALS, APLS, ALS)
* Teaching Qualification (GIC, PGCert)
* Evidence of ongoing professional development within the clinical speciality


Experience/Knowledge


Essential criteria

* Experience of delivering and evaluating education programmes for nursing staff within a clinical setting
* Demonstrate relevant and up-to-date paediatric clinical skills
* Experience of implementing, monitoring, and reporting on education programmes
* Track record in ensuring quality in educational programmes, including supporting quality assurance frameworks
* Experience of supporting inclusive education initiatives with measurable impact on learner outcomes
* Evidence of engagement in networks, conferences, or policy development relevant to education
* Understanding of National Resuscitation Council and ILCOR guidelines
* Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in healthcare education
* Experience in collecting, analysing, and reporting data to support education programme improvement
* Experience of supervising or mentoring junior staff or learners.

* Experience in developing innovative practice programme in resuscitation or other training

* Ability to work autonomously within a defined area, with support from senior educators as required.
* Capable of demonstrating and delivering lectures, practical resuscitation skills and procedures in accordance with National Resuscitation guidelines

* Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Ability to operate with accountability in educational environments, managing risks and maintaining professional conduct
* Ability to provide effective and inclusive pastoral care and learner support

* Ability to co -produce or co -design learning with learners and/or children/young people and families
