Level 2 Teaching Assistant
Hull, HU1
Full-Time | Term Time Only
Day rate: £90 to £115 a day (will go onto contract with school after 12 working weeks)

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Level 2 Teaching Assistant to work within a Specialist Vocational SEND Provision supporting young people aged 14–19. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of learners with additional needs, helping them develop the academic, vocational and life skills required for adulthood.

About the School:

This is a forward-thinking vocational school setting that supports students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), ASC, MLD, and communication difficulties. The curriculum blends academic study with practical, career-focused learning pathways to prepare students for further education, employment, or training.

The school provides a structured, nurturing environment where positive relationships, high expectations and consistency are key.

The Role as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant:

* As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support across vocational and classroom-based sessions.
* Support learners in developing independence, employability skills and confidence
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt learning materials and activities
* Implement behaviour support strategies in line with EHCPs and school policies
* Support students with emotional regulation and social development
* Encourage engagement in practical vocational subjects such as construction, catering, motor vehicle, hair & beauty, or similar pathways
* Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour at all times

The Ideal Level 2 Teaching Assistant will have:

* A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
* Experience working with young people with SEND, particularly SEMH and ASC
* A calm, patient and resilient approach
* Strong behaviour management skills
* The ability to build professional, trusting relationships
* A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
* An understanding of EHCPs and differentiated learning
* Experience within alternative provision, specialist schools, or vocational settings is highly desirable.
