Overview
Markus Ward is an 8‑bed private patient medical oncology unit specialising in the delivery of inpatient chemotherapy and the management of cancer‑related symptoms. Our team delivers personalised care, supporting patients through all stages of their cancer journey, including acute, palliative and end‑of‑life care.
Responsibilities
* Provide nursing care for patients in accordance with the care plan prepared by the Shift Coordinator.
* Develop a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of patients with cancer and the various treatment modalities.
* Act as an integral member of the nursing team to maintain an efficient, safe, clean and pleasant environment for all patients.
* Monitor and record patients’ vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation) and report any abnormal results to registered nursing staff.
* Perform venepuncture and cannulation following training and assessment of competency.
* Demonstrate an understanding of infection control issues, attend mandatory training, and apply infection control policy and procedure. Willingly challenge practice when needed.
* Assist nursing and medical staff with clinical procedures, as delegated by a registered nurse.
* Promote a safe clinical environment for patients, visitors and staff.
* Assist with local or Trust initiatives to support continuous improvement of service quality and safeguarding high standards of care.
Qualifications
* Experienced Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker.
* Competency in venepuncture and cannulation demonstrated after training and assessment.
* Knowledge of infection control policies and procedures.
* Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a willingness to learn and challenge practice as required.
