Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Accounting Clerk to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with various accounting tasks.
Job role:
You will be responsible for managing the company's finances using QuickBooks Online, tracking income and expenditure to ensure accurate and up-to-date records. The role combines finance and administrative tasks, including data entry, organising and filing records, and preparing reports to support decision-making. This is a hands-on position where attention to detail and organisation are key, with the opportunity to make a real impact on the smooth running of the office.
Key responsibilities of the role:
* Keeping financial records tidy and easy to find
* Tracking invoices, receipts and purchase orders
* Paying suppliers and issuing refunds
* Making sure records are compliant with financial rules
* Reconciling accounts on a monthly basis
* Preparing records ahead of auditing
* Spotting any errors, missing information or possible fraud
* Preparing payment run for supplier payments and refunds
* Liaise with Managing Director for payment run and PAYE payments
* Ensuring customer accounts are paid in line with terms of business.
The role is anticipated to be part time 3 days a week 9am to 5pm with 1 hour lunch break. Working days to be agreed with candidate.
Ideal candidate would be familiar with Quickbooks and foreign currency transactions.

We were founded in 1968 and have operated at our offices in Chard since 1986. This role would suit someone who is practical, resilient, and enjoys rolling up their sleeves to sort, organise, and improve systems. You'll be comfortable working through existing workloads, prioritising effectively, and helping to modernise and streamline processes over time.
