Your impact

Whilst there is no set location for this role, it will require the ability to travel in line with business needs.*

Aligned with the E&P Europe Operating Model, the Design Management Lead is responsible for driving a common and consistent approach across Design Management, providing a focus on delivery excellence, effective development and deployment of people and tools. They are accountable for ensuring that we have the right Design Management capabilities to meet the shifting sector needs, and that the capability is digitally enabled, efficient and can be deployed seamlessly across markets, geographies, and projects.

As the Design Management Lead you will actively collaborate with other Capability Leads, Sales, Operations and Project teams & Talent Acquisition. This role will have accountability for Design Management, across the full range of projects in E&P, and for supporting other Sectors as required.

Key Responsibilities

Create a delivery mindset within the capability, ensuring all design inputs to projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to agreed specifications.
Establish and maintain technical governance and compliance, ensuring adherence to client standards (e.g., National Grid TP137, NGTS), CDM regulations, and relevant BS/IEC/ENA standards.
Drive integration of multi-disciplinary design into unified, constructible solutions aligned with project sequencing and procurement strategies.
Champion digital delivery, leveraging Common Data Environments and supporting BIM compliance.
Create an environment where governance and compliance are adhered to and value-driven, embedding ALARP principles and safety-in-design practices.
Be a visible advocate for Jacobs Culture, leading a capability mindset focused on Safety, Inclusion & Diversity, and Agile Careers.
Develop proficiency criteria for capability, including technical excellence and leadership development.
Influence and improve project KPIs, including design quality, constructability, client satisfaction, and delivery efficiency.
Manage capability G&A spend, monitoring hours and expenses versus investment.
Drive innovation in design workflows, including digital engineering and automation opportunities.

Here's what you'll need

An experienced design leader with a proven track record in multi-disciplinary design management for major infrastructure projects
Inclusive and diverse with a global mindset, fostering collaboration across geographies and disciplines
Strong technical background in HV substation design (132kV–400kV) or similar complex engineering environments
Relationship management and strategic influencing skills, cultivating trust and engagement with internal and external stakeholders
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with IET, ICE, or equivalent, or actively working toward it
Experience in Design & Build/EPC environments, with deep understanding of constructability and commissioning interfaces
Excellent knowledge of industry standards, including NGTS, TP137, Grid Code, and CDM regulations
Digital delivery expertise, including BIM workflows and CDE platforms
Strategic mindset with an end-user focus, passionate about design innovation and delivery excellence.
