The Brief
Our client is a UK market leader in defined horticultural sectors. They’re now launching a Natural Capital Consultancy to sit alongside their products – advising landowners, developers, utilities and public bodies on BNG, carbon, biodiversity, water, access to nature markets, and long-term stewardship. We’ve been mandated to find the founder-leader (and/or core team) to design, launch and scale this practice from day one.

What you’ll do
4. Build the practice: proposition, pricing, delivery playbooks, KPIs, P&L ownership.
5. Win the work: convert the existing client base and open new channels (landowners, developers, infra, local authorities, NGOs).
6. Deliver with quality: end-to-end advisory—baselining, natural capital accounting, UKHab/UKHAF mapping, BNG design, carbon/biodiversity credit pathways, monitoring & verification.
7. Productise: create scalable toolkits, templates and partnerships (remote sensing/MRV, digital platforms, academic links).
8. Hire & lead: assemble ecologists/foresters/analysts; set culture, governance and QA.
What you’ll bring
9. Track record launching/scaling environmental/natural capital/Biodiversity Net Gain or forestry/ecology consultancy.
10. Fluency in BNG metrics, UKHab, natural capital accounting, carbon codes (Woodland/Peatland), habitat creation and long-term management plans.
11. Commercial acumen (tenders/frameworks, pricing, margin, contracts) and board-level stakeholder skills.
12. Network across landowners, developers, utilities, planners, local authorities and NGOs.
13. Thought leadership and the ability to turn complexity into clear, bankable client outcomes.
