Your Role
Position: Newly Qualified Occupational Therapist
Full-Time, 5 days/week. Salary: £32,883 (up to £35,465 upon preceptorship completion).
Service Line: Female Personality Disorder
Site Overview: Cygnet Hospital Maidstone is a state-of-the-art, 63-bed mental health facility for adults located in the Kent Medical Campus, Maidstone.
The hospital is purpose-built to meet national standards for mental health care, providing essential services for local patients from Kent. It comprises four wards, each offering specialized mental health services:
* Roseacre Ward: Highly specialized personality disorder service for women
* Kingswood Ward: High dependency rehabilitation for men
* Bearsted Ward: Specialist PICU service for men
* Saltwood Ward: Male low secure ward
The services are developed in collaboration with NHS bodies to ensure accessible, local mental health care, supporting patients in managing their mental health, developing coping strategies, and preparing for community reintegration.
About Roseacre Ward: This 16-bed ward focuses on supporting women with personality disorders, promoting recovery, and preparing patients for independent living using a recovery-focused model.
Your Responsibilities: As an Occupational Therapist, you will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and manage patient care within the service, emphasizing community living and functional skills.
Team: You will work within a multidisciplinary team comprising a consultant psychiatrist, specialty doctor, psychotherapist, assistant psychologist, social worker, mental health nurses, and healthcare assistants. You will supervise a full-time OT Assistant and receive regular supervision and support from experienced OTs.
Support and Development: The team includes three other OTs and four OT Assistants, fostering a supportive environment committed to your professional growth. The ward features a sensory room to aid emotional regulation.
Occupational Therapy Directorate: Led by our occupational therapy directors, supporting over 150 OTs, with opportunities for involvement in service development and interest groups.
