We are now seeking a commercially focused Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance team in Foston. You will play a central role in producing monthly management accounts, overseeing asset management, analysing costs, and ensuring contract and financial controls are robust and fit for purpose. The successful candidate will act as a trusted partner to both finance and operational teams, helping to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Monthly Management Accounts Prepare and support the production of monthly management accounts Post journals and manage reconciliations Process prepayments and accruals Deliver clear variance analysis with meaningful commentary Fixed Asset Management Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register Process asset additions and disposals Manage depreciation schedules Ensure accurate reporting of asset values Hire Purchase (HP) Agreements Track and reconcile HP agreements Ensure correct accounting treatment throughout the asset lifecycle Nominal Cost Analysis Review and analyse nominal ledger costs Investigate variances and provide clear financial insight Support operational and finance leadership with data-driven commentary Finance Controller Support Assist with financial planning and reporting Provide ad-hoc analysis to support strategic and operational decisions Requirements Qualifications & Training Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (desirable) Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (desirable) Knowledge & Experience Strong understanding of management accounting principles, including prepayments, accruals, and cost allocation (essential) Experience managing fixed assets and HP agreements (essential) Skills & Aptitudes Proficient in Outlook with strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems (Sage/Xero) Ability to positively challenge and improve existing processes High level of honesty and integrity Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances Resilient and able to remain calm under pressure while following correct processes Confident engaging with logistics professionals at all levels Numerate with strong analytical and problem-solving ability Willingness to build strong interpersonal relationships across teams and departments Credible and confident communicator (written and verbal) at all levels of the business Job preview This is a full-time role (Monday–Friday), onsite role based at our Head Office in Foston At ATL, we treat our team like family.
