Engineering Manager Location: Yorkshire Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum (depending on experience) Hours: Monday to Friday, 40-45 hours per week (flexibility required during busy periods) Overview We are seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Manager to lead all site engineering activities and ensure the efficient running of production operations. This is a hands-on position, with around 60-70% of time spent on the factory floor. The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with excellent leadership and organisational skills, ensuring machinery and equipment operate effectively, safely, and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Lead and support the engineering team to achieve site performance and reliability targets. Oversee planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. Manage engineering workloads, priorities, and resources effectively. Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety, health and safety, and environmental legislation. Drive continuous improvement and promote best practices across the department. Support recruitment, training, and development of team members. Maintain and develop preventative maintenance systems and engineering records. Liaise with senior management to align engineering activities with business goals. Respond flexibly to out-of-hours issues when required. Requirements Essential: Qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (HNC/HND or equivalent). Strong hands-on engineering experience within a manufacturing environment. Proven leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities. Working knowledge of health and safety requirements and engineering compliance standards. Desirable: Experience within the food or FMCG sector. NEBOSH or IOSH qualification. Food hygiene qualification. 16th or 17th Edition certification.
