Applicants should also have a broad training in all aspects of Cardiology. The candidate will be expected to take part in the General Cardiology service on the wards and in out‑patients. The on‑call rota is manned by seven Interventional Cardiologists with no separate General Cardiology on‑call. The non‑interventional Cardiologists provide comprehensive weekend ward rounds. There is no general medical commitment.
Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job‑share, while recognising that the full‑time post attracts up to a 12 PA job plan.
The post holder will share the in‑patient management of Cardiology patients with our existing consultants. In‑patients are managed on CIU and Roskear Wards and the CCU, although there are also outlying patients. The Cardiologists are responsible for the clinical management of all patients on the CCU and CIU.
The successful "interventional" candidate will participate in the provision of PPCI on a 1:7 basis, currently attracting 2.0 PA of on‑call. Weekend duties will usually follow CCU / Roskear COW weeks.

Position Details
Applications are invited for the Consultant in Cardiologist post. This post is within the Cardiology Department/Specialist medicine care group of the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro. We are currently a team of 12 substantive Cardiologists, and 2 NHS Fixed Term Locums (covering vacancy). We aim to employ 3 further substantive Cardiologists to take us to 15 substantive Consultants delivering the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Cardiology service. This post is principally designed to support delivery of both emergency and elective PCI. The post holder should have advanced training in PCI. A programme of local PCI commenced in September 2001, and now all elective and inpatient PCI is performed on site. We have a successful complex PCI program including rotablations and CTO PCI and a 24/7 primary PCI service has run from January 2011. One catheter lab has recently undergone complete refurbishment and the second lab is currently being refurbished.
