Network Rail High Speed Ltd. (NRHS) is responsible for operating and maintaining the UK's only international high-speed railway, High Speed (HS1).
The 109km HS1 infrastructure consists of a diverse range of railway assets such as the track, signalling, overhead line, lineside buildings, depots, viaducts and long tunnels. NRHS is also responsible for operating and maintaining three international stations; St Pancras, Stratford and Ebbsfleet International.

Brief Description
Team Leader – Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS)

Salary: £43816 + Outer London Allowance (£1600)
Shift Pattern: Days, Nights & Weekends (Safety‑Critical Role) including on call
We're looking for a confident, safety‑driven Team Leader (OCS) with a strong engineering mindset, excellent organisation skills and the ability to guide and motivate a specialist maintenance team. In this key operational role, you'll ensure our Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) remains safe, reliable and efficient — keeping the railway powered and Britain moving.
About The Role (External)
Your Impact
As an OCS Team Leader, you'll take ownership of frontline maintenance activities, working with and coordinating a team of technicians to deliver inspections, renewals, maintenance, diagnostics and faulting across critical railway power systems.
You'll set the standard for safety, quality and productivity — ensuring every shift runs smoothly, efficiently and to the highest engineering expectations.

What Leadership Looks Like in This Role
As Team Leader, you'll be responsible for:
Setting up and maintaining safe work arrangements
Checking and controlling the quality of work onsite
Allocating tasks and ensuring staff have the correct competencies
Ensuring tools, plant, vehicles and equipment are fit for use
Maintaining accurate documentation and reporting
Making sound decisions in fast‑paced, safety‑critical environments
This is a demanding but hugely rewarding role requiring resilience, clear communication and strong technical judgement — day, night and in all weather conditions.
What You'll Need Technical Background in ONE of the following:
Experience in OHL systems
Core Capabilities
Solid understanding of electrical principles
Experience working safely in high‑risk environments
Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills
Ability to coach and support team members
A willingness to learn and build new technical skills
Full UK driving licence
Bonus Skills (Not Essential, But Great to Have!)
Knowledge of the railway industry
Prior experience supervising or mentoring staff
Ability to share lessons learned and drive continuous improvement
Understanding of operational railway environments
