The Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator role in our Coventry site is a shift based position working 4 on 4 off, though flexibility is required. The role will have specific areas of responsibility for the support of day to day management, compliance and auditing of site EHS standards. Supporting operational teams by working with the EHS Team and GEHSMS Duty Holders to promote the adoption of working practices through training, guidance, advice and inspection.
Responsibilities
* Supporting site compliance with Environmental Health and Safety legislation and operating within internal GEHSMS (Global Environmental, Health and Safety Management System) standards.
* Working with Operations, Projects, and other functions to promote good EHS practices and raising issues early for resolution.
* Supporting resolution of significant near misses and contributing to accident investigations.
* Conducting site-wide inspections including Environmental, PPE, Line-Specific, Fire Protection, WWS, and Contractor Control.
* Managing PPE on site, ensuring correct specifications, recording issues, and maintaining suitable supply.
* Owning GEHSMS elements as required by site (e.g., Waste Management, Spill Prevention, Walking Working Surfaces, PPE).
* Completing risk assessments with shift-based operations, support, and front-line teams for COSHH, Task-Based, PUWER (with MESS duty holder), and Aspects & Impacts.
* Delivering EHS training to line trainers and shift-based teams, including site inductions, Manual Handling, DSEAR Awareness, Face Fit Testing, and SWP development.
* Completing daily GEMBAs across site, engaging front-line teams, observing hazards, auditing permits to work and contractors, and coaching safe behaviours.
* Promoting a strong EHS culture through effective communications, campaigns, and safety coaching.
* Completing routine and non-routine standard work tasks, including additional tasks arising from business needs.
Qualifications
* NEBOSH General or working towards and/ or experience working within a EHS role.
* Passion for health, safety and the environment with the ability to engage others in the EHS agenda, driving EHS within all functions and at all times.
* Good coordination skills, able to manage own time and gain commitment from others with reference to action and improvement plans.
* Excellent communication skills - able to communicate clearly and confidently at all levels - 1:1, in writing and presenting in group situations.
* Flexible, can be available for support 24 hours/7 days as business needs dictate.
* PC literate and comfortable working with spreadsheets.
Desirable:
* Experience working in a similar manufacturing environment.
* Approved General Risk Assessor, PUWER/COSHH, DSE, Manual Handling assessment trained.
* Knowledge of environmental management.
* Additional technical competencies such as DSEAR, Confined Space.
