The department
The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated paralegal to join our Commercial Group in Brighton. This is a fantastic opportunity for a paralegal with 1-3 years' experience to work on a diverse range of non-contentious commercial matters, including advising on commercial contracts, technology/IP matters, and information law, and providing corporate support. You will play a key role in supporting our clients and the team, with a clear pathway to qualify as a solicitor through the SQE route.

Other information
What We're Looking For
* Education:
* Law degree (2:1 or 1st), Postgraduate Diploma in Law (Commendation or Distinction) or SQE 1 (top 2 quintiles).
* Ideally, you will have studied electives such as Commercial Law, Intellectual Property, Data Protection and/or Media and Entertainment.
* If taking the SQE route, you must have passed SQE 1 and be working towards or planning to start SQE 2.
* Experience:
* 1-3 years' experience in non-contentious commercial work, either in private practice or in-house.
* Real-world commercial experience is a plus – any role where you have had consider things such as revenue, profit or cashflow really does help.
* Knowledge:
* Familiarity with commercial law and agreements (for example, terms of sale, supply of services, consultancy, distribution, NDAs, Heads of Terms).
* Knowledge of IT/IP, data protection, due diligence, asset/share purchase agreements, and company formations is advantageous.
* Skills:
* Excellent attention to detail and drafting skills.
* Tech-savvy, with good IT skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and case management systems).
* Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
* Effective communicator, able to convey complex legal information clearly.
* Proactive, adaptable, and able to work well under pressure.
* Team player with a client-focused, entrepreneurial mindset.
Your Responsibilities
* Legal Support: Drafting contracts, conducting legal research, and providing corporate support/due diligence on transactions.
* Administrative Support: Assisting with documentation, file management, and supporting the Company Secretary function as needed.
* Financial Management: Achieving personal financial targets, maintaining accurate records, and monitoring billing and time recording.
* Risk & Compliance: Adhering to firm policies, including money laundering and risk management procedures.
